FAQS ABOUT GLASS REPAIRS

Glass is used in a wide variety of everyday things such as our vehicles, windows, shower doors, and more.

There are also various types of glass used for different purposes. Although we interact with glass daily, most know little about it.

Below, we have the answers to some of the frequently asked questions that we receive:

HOW LONG DO WINDSHIELD REPAIR APPOINTMENTS TAKE?

Repairing a windshield should take up to 30 minutes to complete, while a replacement will take up to 60 minutes to complete. We recommend that you do not drive the vehicle for at least an hour after the appointment.

MY HOME/BUSINESS WINDOW GLASS BROKE. CAN YOU REPLACE THE GLASS?

Yes. We don’t have to replace the entire window. We can often just replace the broken glass for you.

WHAT CAN I DO TO PROTECT MY GLASS?

The best thing that you can do for your glass is to clean it. Dirt and grime can cause micro-damage that can make it much easier for small bumps and regular usage to cause the glass to crack or break. Clean it regularly to help protect your glass.

WHAT ARE THE “R” AND “U” VALUES OF A PIECE OF GLASS?

R-value is a measure of the glass’s heat transfer resistance. The higher the R-value, the better it is at reducing the transfer of heat. The U-value is an insulation measure for transparent objects, like glass, that represents the amount of heat that escapes a surface. The lower the U-value, the better the insulation.

SHOULD I USE CLEAR, TEXTURED, OR FROSTED GLASS FOR MY SHOWER DOOR?

The choice is entirely yours to make. Clear glass provides a beautiful visual appeal, but textured glass and frosted glass give you more privacy in the bathroom. The one that is best for you will depend on your personal preferences.
